Description
-
Synmatrix-O
Defined Organoid Culture Matrix (Matrigel Alternative)
A fully defined, ECM-mimetic photocrosslinkable hydrogel matrix designed to replace undefined basement membrane extracts (e.g. Matrigel) in organoid expansion, passaging, and advanced 3D in vitro modelling.
Key Features
Defined composition: eliminates batch variability associated with animal-derived matrices.
ECM-mimetic environment: supports 3D organoid growth with physiologically relevant structure.
Photocrosslinkable control: enables precise tuning of stiffness and architecture.
Reproducible workflows: supports standardised and scalable organoid culture.
Application-oriented: compatible with downstream assays, screening, and engineered systems.
Typical Applications
Organoid culture, expansion, and passaging as a defined alternative to Matrigel
Long-term organoid studies with improved reproducibility
Patient-derived organoid (PDO) models
3D disease modelling
Drug response and screening
Integration with organ-on-chip and microphysiological systems

Synmatrix-O is designed for organoid-based 3D culture systems, including stem cell-derived organoids, patient-derived organoids, and engineered 3D disease models.
Preparation & Use
-
Photoinitiator preparation: prepare sterile LAP solution (0.2% w/v), filter sterilize, store at 4 °C protected from light.
-
Hydrogel preparation: dissolve Synmatrix-O with LAP solution and DPBS to 6% (w/v), stir under light protection until clear.
-
Gel formation: mix with organoids or cells, dispense, and crosslink under 405 nm light (~30 s).
-
Culture setup: wash with DPBS, replace with culture medium, incubate.
Safety
Use appropriate PPE. Avoid inhalation, ingestion, and contact with skin or eyes. Protect from light. Dispose according to local regulations. For research use only.
